Privacy policy

This policy explains the information involved when you read the journal, use the local shot-note tool or contact us directly.

Who is responsible

Funbalconybrixl Ltd is responsible for personal information it processes in connection with this website. Our registered office is 24 Lantern Yard, London SE1 3PL, United Kingdom; company no. 15439287. Contact [email protected] with privacy questions or requests.

Reading the website

Loading a page necessarily sends technical connection information to the website’s hosting infrastructure. This may include your IP address, requested URL, browser information, request time and referring page, where supplied by your browser. Technical logs may be used to deliver pages, diagnose errors and protect the service. The site code does not install analytics, advertising pixels, social widgets or third-party tracking scripts.

We rely on legitimate interests in providing a reliable, secure information service for necessary operational processing, balanced against visitors’ rights. We do not sell personal information or use it for automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.

The shot-note tool

Text entered into the contact tool is processed in your browser. The tool does not send its fields to a server, place them in local storage or submit them as a form request. Copying uses your browser’s clipboard facility when available. Downloading creates a plain-text file on your device. Your clipboard, downloaded file and any device or browser backups are under your control.

Do not treat the tool as secure storage. Closing or reloading the page may remove your text, and your browser may apply its own form-restoration features. If you choose to send the text by email, the separate correspondence processing described below applies.

Email correspondence

If you email us, we receive your email address, message, attachments and related email metadata. We use this information to consider your enquiry, address corrections, respond where appropriate and maintain relevant records. Our usual legal basis is legitimate interests in managing correspondence and the journal. Where necessary, processing may also support compliance with a legal obligation or steps connected with a contract.

Send only information relevant to your enquiry. We do not request sensitive personal data through the website. Ordinary correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably needed for its purpose; we aim to review or remove it within 12 months after the matter is closed unless legal, dispute-resolution or continuing editorial needs justify longer retention.

Browser preferences

The preferences page can save a choice in local storage under funbalconybrixl-cookie-preference. The value records “accepted” or “essential” and does not contain your message, name or email address. It remains until changed or cleared in your browser. See the Cookies policy for controls and details.

Service providers and disclosures

Hosting and email providers may process information as needed to operate their services for us. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Where a restricted international transfer is involved, applicable data-protection safeguards must be used, such as an adequacy decision or appropriate contractual protections.

We use reasonable organisational and technical measures appropriate to the information involved. No website or email system can guarantee complete security. External websites linked from the journal have their own privacy practices.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of personal information, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. If processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. We may need proportionate information to verify a request. We normally respond within one month, subject to lawful extensions and exceptions.

You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office or your relevant supervisory authority. Contacting us first can help resolve a concern, but is not a condition of making a complaint.

Changes

We may update this policy when the website or its processing changes. The date above identifies this version. Material new uses of information will be assessed and explained before being introduced.
