Terms of use

Use this journal as a source of questions, context and practical thinking—not as approval of a particular construction or effects method.

Operator and scope

This website is operated by Funbalconybrixl Ltd, 24 Lantern Yard, London SE1 3PL, United Kingdom, company no. 15439287. You can contact us at [email protected]. These terms apply to use of the journal and its browser-based tools. They do not create a production-services contract or a professional advisory relationship.

Educational information

Content is general information about miniature film set construction. It may not suit your equipment, materials, experience, location or production requirements. We aim for useful and accurate explanations but do not guarantee completeness, uninterrupted availability or suitability for a particular project. Check critical information independently before relying on it.

Ratios and dimensional examples illustrate calculations. Conceptual renders are not measured plans, engineering specifications or photographs proving a production method. Film references and practitioner names identify subjects for study, not endorsements or affiliations.

Workshop and production safety

Obtain appropriate training, follow manufacturer instructions and carry out a project-specific risk assessment. Use competent specialists for electrical work, lifting, hazardous substances, fire, pyrotechnics, destruction effects and other specialist operations. Smaller scenery does not make an unsafe process safe. No article grants permission to perform regulated work or replaces applicable law, workplace procedures or professional supervision.

Permitted use and intellectual property

You may read, link to and make reasonable personal reference copies of the journal. Unless another licence is stated, original site text and design are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Do not republish substantial portions, sell copies or present our work as your own without permission, except where the law permits it.

Film titles, trademarks, book titles and third-party material remain associated with their respective rights holders. Their mention is for identification and commentary. Any statutory rights to quotation, criticism, review or other permitted use remain unaffected.

Local tools and correspondence

The shot-note tool prepares text locally. It does not send messages, guarantee delivery, securely store drafts or replace a backup. Clipboard and download behaviour depends on your browser and device. You are responsible for reviewing text before copying, downloading or sending it, and for avoiding confidential or unnecessary personal information.

Do not send unlawful, abusive or infringing material. You should have the right to share any attachments or production information you email. We may consider feedback without promising a response, publication, attribution or a particular editorial outcome. Sending correspondence does not transfer ownership of your original work.

External links and availability

External links are offered for research and context. We do not control their content, availability or policies. The journal may be amended, interrupted or withdrawn, and older references may become unavailable. Report broken links or material errors through the Contact page.

Liability and your legal rights

To the extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties and liability for losses arising from reliance on general information or inability to use the website. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Your mandatory consumer rights are not affected.

Law and changes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory protections that apply where you live. The courts of England and Wales may hear disputes, without removing any right a consumer has to bring proceedings in another competent court. Updates will appear on this page with a revised date and apply to future use, not retrospectively to remove accrued rights.
